Where Everyone Else is Going This Summer

One of the easiest ways to see what is going on in the zeitgeist is to look at how often specific terms are searched on Google. You can type in any search term here to see how it ranks over time.

And you can do the same thing with travel!

Google just released the most popular destinations searched for on Google Flights, for trips departing this summer (6/1/25-8/31/25) from U.S. airports:

1. San Juan, PR

2. Billings, MT

3. Nantucket, MA

4. St. Louis, MO

5. Providence, RI

6. Maui, HI

7. Omaha, NE

8. Juneau, AK

9. Bangor, ME

10. Madison, WI

I probably would have guessed Nantucket and Maine would be popular, but Omaha and Juneau were a surprise.

And then these are the trending international destinations searched on Google Flights for trips departing this summer from U.S. airports:

1. Curaçao

2. Osaka

3. St. Lucia

4. Tokyo

5. Rio de Janeiro

6. Sydney

7. Tel Aviv

8. Johannesburg

9. Cairo

10. Aruba

If I was or wanted to be a travel influencer, I would focus on writing or posting about these destinations because they are currently trending.

But since I’m not, I’ll just use the list as travel inspiration and update my summer bucket list to include a trip to either Billings or Tokyo. Probably Summer 202…. 7? 8? 9? But I can dream.
