Two Unexpectedly Perfect Picks
First, Wrestling. Then, OnlyFans.
This is my two-part content recommendation for you.
Both the docuseries and the book I mention below are great on their own, but just like my iced coffee and the handful of semi-sweet chocolate chips I’m currently eating, they’re even better together.
Step One: Watch Mr. McMahon on Netflix.
This 2024 docuseries is about the WWE under Vince McMahon's leadership. I knew absolutely zero about wrestling going in, and I was hooked from the first 5 minutes. Each episode gets wilder, and there was a LOT I did not see coming. I highly, highly enjoyed it.
Step Two: Read Margo's Got Money Troubles: A Novel.
This 2024 book tells the story of a young mom who starts an OnlyFans and starts using techniques from the world of wrestling to stand out in the adult space. There’s a lot of discussion in the book about online algorithms, critiques of OnlyFans’ UX, how TikTok can help build audiences, collaboration with other creators, and more. It’s one of the most unexpectedly helpful books on how to build a personal brand I’ve ever read - and because I knew all about wrestling from Step One, I got so much more out of it. It was a wonderful, compelling read.
Both pieces of content were 10/10 for me! I think you’ll love them too.
