These People Do Not Exist
Inventing faces and stories.
ThisPersonDoesNotExist.com is a simple website: every time you refresh, it shows you a new person.
Except - the people are completely fake. They are generated by an AI model. But each portrait has pores, wrinkles, and are not perfectly symmetrical. They look VERY real.
It’s a site designed to show us how convincing AI images can be - and it works.
But I also think it is really fun to use the site in a creative writing exercise. You could get your creativity muscles going by quickly refreshing the fake faces and naming them as fast as possible (“this looks like a Jessica! this is a Ned!”), or just refresh the site once and force yourself to write a little backstory for the face it generated. You could also put a random face on the board if you’re teaching a creative writing class and have the students write a backstory for the face, too.
