TechDay: Raimonds Lauzums of Poggers

All the software a toy and game shop uses to run their business each day.

Welcome to the first edition of TechDay, a series where folks share the different technology they use to run their businesses and drive their life.

First up is Raimonds Lauzums, CEO / President of Poggers, a family-owned business run by a team of brothers selling high-quality toys and games that has both e-commerce and IRL retail stores.

Raimonds walks us through the technology he needs to run Poggers each day:

  • 7:00 AM: Start my day with a quick check of overnight orders in QuickBooks Commerce (formerly TradeGecko). I use the mobile app to review any urgent issues or large orders that need immediate attention. This gives me a heads-up before my team arrives.

  • 8:00 AM: Team stand-up meeting (virtual, using Google Meet). We discuss any outstanding issues from the previous day, prioritize tasks for the day, and review key performance indicators (KPIs) directly from QuickBooks Commerce's reporting dashboards, focusing on sales figures, inventory levels, and order fulfillment times.

  • 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM: Work on inventory management. I use QuickBooks Commerce’s inventory management tools to analyze stock levels, identify low-stock items, and place purchase orders with our suppliers. The automated low-stock alerts are a lifesaver. I also utilize the integrated shipping features to manage outgoing shipments and label printing

  • 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM: Customer relationship management (CRM) tasks. While TradeGecko itself doesn’t have a full-fledged CRM, I integrate it with Hubspot CRM to manage customer interactions, track communication, and ensure a smooth customer experience. I’ll often pull reports from QuickBooks Commerce’s to provide accurate order history and shipping information to customers promptly.

  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Lunch break!

  • 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM: Financial reporting and analysis. QuickBooks Commerce’s financial reporting capabilities are invaluable. I use its built-in tools to generate sales reports, profit and loss statements, and other financial data. This allows me to track our profitability and make informed decisions about pricing, inventory, and marketing

  • 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM: Team collaboration and problem-solving. We use QuickBooks Commerce’s communication features to address any urgent issues that arise throughout the day. QuickBooks Commerce’s centralized data platform ensures we’re all working from the same information.

  • 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Planning for the next day. I review outstanding tasks, prepare for upcoming orders, and schedule tasks for the following day. QuickBooks Commerce’s calendar view helps with scheduling and organization.
