How to have a happy MRI

One person's kind gift.

Many people find MRIs scary.

According to the About Page:

“My name is Pras, and I am someone who has needed MRIs in the past and will need them in the future, due to a disease I suffer from. I am very nervous about having MRI scans, and I made this website to share things that I find useful to calm me down before and during scanning.”

(I tried to get an interview with Pras but haven’t heard back!)

The website has a ton of hints for how to have a successful MRI, including a full page of MRI Practice Sounds and instructions for how to use the sounds to become more familiar with the procedure.

When I feel down about the world, I think of people like Pras. I think of them sitting at their computer, building this entire site, recording sounds, thinking of their own experience and what might help others, writing down thoughtful hints. And they did all that solely to help strangers feel a little less scared about a medical procedure.

What a gift to live in a world with people like Pras. “Look for the helpers"- Fred Rogers.
